I bet you’re wondering what’s inside this jar, right?
Kale. Cucumber. Pear. Blueberry. Lemon.
I drank it all.
I’ll let you decide how you feel about that.
Today I however, feel incredible!
Last week? Last month?
Not so much.
Winter seems to always be the roughest season for my soul to thrive. Mentally. Emotionally. Physically. I crave light, warmth, and energy and winter likes to steal it all away.
Does it feel that way for you too?
Lately, it’s been off the wall terrible. I’ve been working too hard. Staying up too late. Eating crap. Sitting on my butt more than I’d care to admit. Staring at screens – desktops, laptops, iPhones, iPads, televisions. You name it – I’ve probably stared at it. It had gotten so bad that I could start to feel the ‘winter blahs’ taking a toll on my relationships, my business, and myself. I was unproductive, exhausted, anxious, agitated. Ack! Not so pleasant, eh?
Then, a few weeks ago, my Calmer and I watched THIS documentary.
It changed everything.
We instantly wanted to throw away all the junk in our refrigerator and drink nothing but green juice for the rest of our lives! Okay, okay, that might be a bit extreme. But it did give us a framework to begin ridding our bodies of the toxic winter ‘blahs’.
This weekend for ‘date night’ my Calmer and I purchased our first juicer and spent an hour in the produce department of the grocery store picking the freshest fruits and veggies for our first juicing adventure. Romantic right?
Sunday morning breakfast was the colorful concoction you see above. It was surprisingly sweeter and tastier than it looks.
At first I was upset that the lack of caffeine left me with with a splitting headache that knocked me out HARD and had me in bed by 8:30pm on a Sunday night.
But then I woke up Monday morning with more energy than I’ve had in a year. Maybe it was the sheer amount of sleep I got that night. Or maybe it was all the healthy goodness hidden in that jar of drinkable fruits and veggies.
Either way I drank another 16 oz. of juice Monday afternoon. Ingredients: Spinach. Kale. Apple. Carrot. Ginger.
And I’m already exciting for my Mean Green Juice treat tomorrow.
Anyone care to join me?
Have you ever juiced before? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below. If not, what are some other ways you combat the winter ‘blahs’? I’d love to add some more tools to my arsenal.
