coffee date

Welcome everyone to this new little nook I’ve carved out for you all, cyberspace is about to get a little more cozy. Inspired by friend and fellow blogger Fran over at Small Bird Studios I’d like to invite you to come on in and stick around awhile. Come grab a cup of coffee with me (or if java isn’t your thing hot cocoa and warm apple cider is perfect this time of year too), let’s chat and share what’s been on our minds lately. Coffee has to be one of my favorite things in the whole wide world, but it’s so much better when shared with a friend.

So, hello friend.

Grab a mug and I’ll brew you a cup.

Let’s find a comfortable corner somewhere, forget the rest of the commitments the world has set forth for us, put away our iphones, and just enjoy the company of one another for a little while.  It’s so nice to have this time to leave hustle and bustle behind and be present, in this moment.

On our coffee date I’d have a lot to share with you. Life has been busy and it seems there is never enough time to get caught up. But somehow, someway, while sipping that warm, comforting cup of coffee, time seems to stand still just long enough to let the truths of our life come pouring out during our time together.

I’d tell you how amazed I am with the resiliency of the human spirit.  I’ve seen so much pain, so much heartache, so much loss lately. Friends losing and grieving their sweet babies, losing their spouses to divorce, losing themselves after physical & emotional abuse, losing loved ones to stupid cancer. It’s amazing we’re all still here standing.

I’d tell you I’m scared to death of losing again.

I’d tell you about how disconnected I often feel from my own life.  One moment I’d give anything to go back in time and bring her, our first daughter Bella, back to us. But then I take one look our rainbow after the storm, Brielle, and I can’t help but smile and wonder if the universe had this planned for us all along.

I’d tell you how there is no such thing as a ‘superwoman’. It’s such a delicate balance trying to be mom, wife, coworker, & business owner.  And trying to juggle all those balls in the air eventually makes you realize you’ve lost yourself along the way. There’s nothing super about that and I’m still working to figure out the balancing act.

I’d tell you how much my camera has helped me bring back a little of that balance.

I’d tell you how my life has been a continual journey of self-discovery, and how excited I am to teach you how to use your camera on your own life journey.

I’d tell you to go check out Radiate and get on the dibs list, because you aren’t going to want miss it once it comes around.

I’d tell you that I need to start doing yoga again.

I’d tell you I want someone to give me a massage, a pedicure, a wardrobe makeover, a haircut, and a weekend spa retreat, RIGHT NOW.

And I’d tell you how lovely you are for being my friend, and I’d thank you for just simply…listening.

I’d ask you to tell me how you’ve been, dear friend. I’d ask if you’ve picked up your camera lately. What you’ve photographed. What you’re seeing through life’s lens. I want to hear all about it.

I hope this space will become one that you’ll come back to often.  Where you’ll grab your beverage of choice, settle in, and take a good look around. While you’re here I hope you’ll find I’m here to teach you how to use whatever camera you own to truly appreciate each and every moment of YOUR life, even in the face of tragic loss. I can even teach you a thing or two about how master that fancy dslr camera you want to use just like the pros.

Today, to celebrate that this space exists, I’m going to giveaway an hour ‘coffee date’ with me (complete with $25 Starbucks gift card) to one lucky reader.

On our date we’ll explore the self-discovery you need from behind the lens.  We can spend our time on Momtographie camera help, Illuminate healing exercises, or I’ll dish about what’s coming up with my new e-course Radiate. This is a chance for you to pick my brain — from mentoring, to photo help, to gossiping about Lindsey Lohan’s latest drama — the subject matter is up to you.  Locals (30 mile radius of Lovettsville, VA), we can go grab a cup of coffee in person at a shop nearby. Far away friends, we’ll have our date virtually via Skype or phone call.

Head on over to the brand new Facebook Page to enter. Entries accepted until Friday 11/5 and a winner will be randomly chosen and announced next week.

I can’t wait for my real live coffee date with one of you.
